Dua, or supplication, is a very powerful concept in Islam. The word is derived from the Arabic root meaning to call out or to summon. Dua is a means of conversing with God, of calling out to Him, our Lord, our Creator, the All Powerful.
Dua is the most powerful and effective form of worship, and is particularly important during Ramadan. Without relying on God, what would be the need to pray? If we didn’t have anything to ask for, our prayers would be empty, meaningless. Dua puts meaning and purpose into our worship. It is dua that reminds us of our need for Allah.
